Embracing “no”: A "no" stings. It is not fun. It does not feel great. We must approach our reaction deliberately, not merely emotionally. “No” forms more readily into tragedy or failure when unexamined. Despite much “no”, I look back on my journey with deep satisfaction. “No” has offered many opportunities to learn, grow, and re-orient. I found unexpected ways and places to make a difference. These experiences have made me a better person, a better leader, more capable of love, and more aware of the challenges in the lives of others. If we are always looking to learn, we give ourselves opportunities to grow in unexpected ways. "No" can be painful.
